Apply for your Social Insurance Number (SIN)

A SIN is required to work, open a bank account, and access government benefits. As a Permanent Resident, you are eligible for a permanent SIN (non-9 prefix). Apply in person at Service Canada.

  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR)
  • Passport
  • Proof of Alberta address (if available)
