Privacy & your data

Plain language, no legalese. Last updated July 2026.

What we collect

  • Account details you give us when you sign up: first and last name, email, and phone number.
  • Your settlement answers from onboarding — things like immigration status, arrival date, household, and which tasks you've finished. We use these to build your personalised plan.
  • Questions you ask the AI assistant in Ask AI.
  • Basic usage events (e.g. that you signed up or completed a task) so we can see whether Nestlo is actually helping. We don't sell this or use third-party ad trackers.

Where your data is stored — in Canada

Your account and settlement data live in a Canadian-region database (Supabase, Canada Central / ca-central-1), and the app itself runs from Vercel's Montreal region. In normal use, your data stays in Canada.

The one exception: the AI assistant

When you use Ask AI, the question you type is sent to Anthropic (the company behind Claude) to generate an answer, and that processing happens in the United States. So the text of your AI questions crosses the border, even though everything else stays in Canada.

Because of this, please don't put sensitive personal details (like your SIN, passport number, or banking information) into Ask AI. If your situation is sensitive or complex, you can reach a real person at support@nestlo.ca.

Who can see your data

You can, when you sign in. The Nestlo team can access your data to run the service and help you when you ask for support. We don't sell your personal information.

Your choices

You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your data at any time — email support@nestlo.ca and we'll take care of it.

This page explains our practices in plain language. It isn't legal advice and may be updated as Nestlo grows. Questions? Email support@nestlo.ca.
